	Preparation for COMMUNITY COLLEGE Teaching

While a teaching credential is no longer required to teach in California Community Colleges, (community colleges make their own determination about the suitability of an applicant's preparation for teaching), our ECTS courses have proven to be effective preparation for community college teaching and will help to insure that people interested in teaching at a community college, or any institution that has adult students, are well prepared to teach.

In California, one of the primary things that community college administrators want to know is what "formal preparation for teaching" (teacher preparation courses) candidates for teaching positions have had. Each individual college will determine if that meets the requirements that college has established for whatever particular teaching position is under consideration. A number of community colleges have actually referred teacher candidates to us to take our ECTS 501, ECTS 518 and ECTS 504 courses. The more ECTS courses one has completed the better their "formal preparation for teaching" will be.

Anyone interested in teaching at a community college is encouraged to start by enrolling in the following courses, beginning with ECTS 501. At least one section of ECTS 501 is offered every quarter. Follow the link just below for specific information about:

Additional courses that have proven to be beneficial to people interested in teaching at a community college are:
