Who It's For

EVOC 520 is open to anyone who has an interest in developing a course curriculum. It is an excellent course for people who are (or will be) working in a situation where they need to develop (or supervise the development of) competency based curriculum. It is a requirement for the BVE Degree, or (if not completed as an undergraduate) may be applied toward the M.A. Degree in Education (Vocational Education Option).

What It's About

EVOC 520 is a course in which class members work on their own to investigate and present information about various aspects of curriculum development. Each class member will develop an actual competency based curriculum for a course that he/she is teaching or plans to teach. The basic principle that underscores all course activities is "people learn best by doing." Course requirements are explicitly spelled out at the first class meeting so that each scholar will be able to determine exactly what is expected, when it is expected, and what the standards of performance are.

Options

There are three options for completing EVOC 520: the Traditional In-Class Option, the Distance Learning Option and the Skills Documentation Option. Whichever option you decide on, in order to get credit you must officially register for EVOC 520 at CSUSB. Anyone considering the Distance Learning or the Skills Documentation option should e-mail Donna Shea at evoc@verizon.net

Course Materials
Anyone interested in signing up for the EVOC 521 course can contact course instructor Donna Shea for information about how to access the course materials right now or at any time before the course starts. It's a good idea to take a look at those materials soon as possible.
