Who It's For
EVOC 521 is open to anyone who has an interest in evaluation and assessment. It is an excellent course for people who are (or will be) working in a situation where they need to develop (or supervise the development of) competency based curriculum. It is a requirement for the BVE Degree, or (if not completed as an undergraduate) may be applied toward the M.A. Degree in Education (Career & Technical Education Option).
What It's About
EVOC 521 is a course about various aspects of evaluation and assessment. Each class member will develop a variety of assessment instruments for a course that he/she teaches or plans to teach. The basic principle that underscores all course activities is "people learn best by doing". Course requirements are explicitly spelled out at the first class meeting so that each scholar will be able to determine exactly what is expected, when it is expected, and what the standards of performance are.
Options
There are three options for completing EVOC 521: the Traditional In-Class Option, the Distance Learning Option and the Skills Documentation Option. Whichever option you decide on, in order to get credit you must officially register for EVOC 521 at CSUSB. Anyone considering the Distance Learning or the Skills Documentation option should e-mail Donna Shea at evoc@verizon.net
