Concurrent Enrollment

All three of the required EVOC courses for Level 1 (EVOC 501, EVOC 518 and EVOC 519)
are offered every quarter and scheduled so that they can all be enrolled in concurrently. There can be a financial advantage (see CO$T) to enrolling all three courses during the same quarter. If courses are taken concurrently, it is still best to start working on EVOC 501 first (see EVOC 501 Distance Learning Option)

PLEASE NOTE: Anyone who has not developed basic skills in web surfing, e-mail and word processing should take a basic computer orientation course that addresses those skills BEFORE attempting any of the EVOC courses. Such courses are available at minimum cost through local community colleges and/or adult education programs.

ALSO NOTE: Anyone who is not presently involved with some sort of teaching, is encouraged to wait to take EVOC 518 (the field work course) until such time as they are actually teaching.

ADULT ONLY: Candidates for the Level 1 ADULT Credential (only) must complete one additional course (EVOC 504), which is presently offered only during the Summer and the Fall Quarters.
Anyone with good computer skills, who is presently teaching, should be able to successfully complete all three courses (EVOC 501, EVOC 518 and EVOC 519) concurrently. Anyone who isn't sure about the workload is invited to attend the first class session of each course. After the first class session, any of the EVOC courses can be added (space permitting) or dropped. It is also helpful to subscribe to the E-TEXT for each course before officially enrolling, as the information in each E-TEXT provides a very good indication of the amount of work required for each course.

Both of the courses required for Level 2, (EVOC 502 and EVOC 503), are specifically designed to be taken concurrently, but they are only offered during the Winter Quarter (that starts in January) and the Summer Quarter (that starts in June).

It is highly recommended that ALL of the required EVOC courses be completed within one year.
