Course Information for: ECTS 518
"Field work Preparation for Designated Subjects"ECTS 518 is a course in which information and materials relative to effective teaching within each scholars individual area of content knowledge will be collected into a field work portfolio. Everyone who completes this course successfully is expected to be able to:
Develop a Resource Directory of appropriate support people.
Describe an appropriate system of formal teacher evaluation.
Describe an appropriate system for evaluating student work.
Describe an appropriate system for classroom management.
Develop competency based materials for a substitute teacher.
Observe and evaluate on-site effectiveness of other teachers.
Prepare a series of detailed lesson plans for their own course.
Document 24 hours of actual teaching in an on-site setting.
Develop a Personal Mission Statement using Covey's model.
Prepare a PowerPoint or Video promoting their own course.
Prepare a PowerPoint or Video of a specific stand alone lesson.
This courses is done in an all-online format with no class meetings. The ECTS 518 Scholars work at their own pace to collect information and materials into a portfolio format that is intended to support field work.
Information about and examples of all course assignments are included in the free online course materials (E-TEXT). Please e-mail the course instructor indicated for the current quarter to request that link. It's a good idea to take a look at the E-TEXT assignments as soon as possible, as many of them can be completed before the class actually starts.
Please be sure to officially enroll in BOTH ECTS 501 and ECTS 518 during the same Quarter.
