Career & Technical Teacher Education  at
          California State University, San Bernardino
Our Philosophy
Our philosophy is founded on the principles of "competency based" education. We believe that people learn best by doing and we contend that at the conclusion of every sequence of instruction, the students who receive that instruction should be able to actually do something that can be observed and measured. We believe that it is the responsibility of every instructor to clearly communicate exactly what students are expected to be able to do as the result of instruction. Instructors, and people training to become instructors, are expected to be able to themselves do everything that they ask students to do, to design and facilitate effective instructional activities that will promote student accomplishment, and to design and administer evaluation instruments that will accurately and fairly measure student competency. We believe that all individuals deserve to be treated fairly, with dignity, and that everyone involved with the educational process has an obligation to act ethically and honestly at all times. We believe that education should be fun and that everyone who is, or who aspires to be, a vocational instructor should enjoy helping people and should demonstrate a continuing dedication to excellence in every aspect of their professional lives. We expect that the people who enter our programs will be willing and able to devote the time and talent necessary to succeed.
