Step 1 ~ Apply for a teaching position at a Regional Occupational Program (ROP). If they have a position for which they feel you may be qualified, you will be given an Application for Employment to complete. There is a list of California ROPs starting on the following web page:

Step 2 ~ When you have completed the Application for Employment, the ROP will provide you with you a list of approved educational institutions through which you can apply for the Preliminary Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential or a Qualification Recommendation Letter, and most likely someone from the ROP will help you with that based on the information in your Application for Employment
Step 3 ~ Select the educational institution you feel will be best able to facilitate the processing referenced in Step 2 above, then contact the person indicated at that institution. Most ROPs will have a list of educational institutions they recommend.

Step 4 ~ Select the educational institution where you can complete the required coursework.
PLEASE NOTE: You do NOT need take the required coursework from the same educational institution that processed your application for the teaching credential !!
California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB) offers a program of totally online courses fully approved by the California Commission on teacher Credentialing and those courses can also be applied to either our CTE Bachelors or CTE Masters Degree program.
