RE: EVOC 501 Course Evaluation
1. How much experience have you had with online courses? -
Prior to taking EVOC 501, I can honestly state that I have not taken an online course before. The only instructions I have taken online were tutorials for such programs as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
2. How did EVOC 501 compare to other courses you have had? -
I found the course to be just as challenging, if not more so, than courses I took in my undergrad and graduate years. When I first surveyed the assignments, I thought I didn t have the knowledge or skills to do them. But the directions were clear and the readings were informative; much more so than many other courses I took.
3. How would you describe the directions for course assignments? -
The directions were clear-cut and to the point. I had no difficulty in understanding the assignment. When looking over the assignments when I first logged onto e-text, I was intimidated with what I saw. But the course instructions and examples alleviated those anxieties.
4. How would you describe the examples of course assignments? -
The examples of the course assignments are what made the course for me. They were the guides that I based my work on and they brought further understanding to the concepts being taught in e-text.
5. How would you describe the organization of the E-TEXT? -
I would describe the organization of e-text as a pyramid in that the first assignment provided the foundation for the next. I feel that it was well organized and I wouldn t recommend any changes to it. I believe it met all of its performance objectives.
6. How would you describe feedback provided by the instructor? -
The feedback was encouraging. Initially, I was in a very vulnerable position but Dr. Pendleton did not come down on me but guided and encouraged me. I am thankful to him for that.
7. What did you like best about the online EVOC 501 course? -
What I liked best about them was the fact that I could work with them at my pace. If I needed to crank them out (and I did), it allowed me to do so. And it provided enough insight, as to what was expected, that I felt confident about what I was putting out.
8. Which of the assignment(s) did you find to be of most value? -
I found the WR3 assignment to be of most interest and value to me. It sort of brought home for me what the syllabus and the performance objectives were all about. I have started revising some of the lessons I taught in NJROTC to reflect what I have learned from it.
9. Which of the assignment(s) did you find to be of least value? -
Even though I found significant value in it, the FA3- Class Roster had the least value of all the assignments I ve done. The reason I say this is because, it required me to put down in writing what I felt about my cadets but it didn t do much more than that. Maybe I didn t get the gist of what it was all about.
10. What is your overall impression of the value of EVOC 501? -
Overall, I am very impressed with the program. I have learned a lot in a very short period of time concerning lessons and performance objectives. The readings were very informative. I am now in the planning process of rewriting some of my lessons for next year. Some of them will be included in my EVOC 518 P
