RE: EVOC 501 Course Evaluation

1. How much experience have you had with online courses? - I have taken a few while working towards my Bachelor s degree prior to enrolling in the EVOC program.

2. How did EVOC 501 compare to other courses you have had? - I used the Black Board program for those online courses. The etext definitely impressed me. This class was much more thorough and in-depth verses those previous classes. The material was better organized and the extext was presented in a user-friendly fashion. The only thing I did not do in EVOC 501 that I did in prior classes was communicate with fellow scholars. There were no email postings for review or interaction with other persons besides the instructor.

3. How would you describe the directions for course assignments? - The directions were very detailed and understandable. If I was not clear on something, I always had the Fred Fudrucker examples to help me out.

4. How would you describe the examples of course assignments? - The Fred Fudrucker examples were extremely helpful. With these examples provided, I felt no need to really ask questions, especially when it came to formatting an assignment. I also never had any problems viewing any of the examples.

5. How would you describe the organization of the E-TEXT? - As I mentioned before, the etext definitely was a great tool and kept everything nice and organized. I never had any troubles viewing any of the material. The only complaint I have about the etext is that I should be able to create my own password. Using one created for me frustrates me a bit since I log on to the extext often.

6. How would you describe feedback provided by the instructor? - Dr. Pendleton is very perceptive and he made me feel much better about taking a Distance Learning course. I knew he actually read over my assignments and provided insightful feedback. That is very important in a learning environment such as this.

7. What did you like best about the online EVOC 501 course? - The assignments were great. I learned so much from each assignment. It was incredible. I feel I am obtaining an invaluable education to make me a better instructor. I definitely appreciate how Dr. Pendleton made students learn more about the CSUSB itself, the steps it takes to become credentialed, as well as the material he covered in regards to teaching.

8. Which of the assignment(s) did you find to be of most value? - Wow, that s kind of hard. I found such assignments as the FA1 Cyberspace Field Trip and the FA5 regarding credentialing very informative and am thankful to have learned such information. I feel that it helps me have an extra edge and keeps me on top of my education/credentialing. The FA8 and FA9 also helped me put my career into perspective as far as to what level I want to take my teaching to. Within the quizzes I found a lot of useful information as well as the opportunity to help me create better instruction for my students. But I suppose if I had to choose one, it would be the FA4 Reading Report. I so very much enjoyed reading Covey s book.

9. Which of the assignment(s) did you find to be of least value? - I find much value in each assignment, but if I had to choose one it would be the FA3 Class Roster. I had fun doing this assignment and would have enjoyed taking pictures of my students, but I did not learn as much from this assignment as I did from the others.

10. What is your overall impression of the value of EVOC 501? - It was a great class and essential to my education. I learned a lot, so much it is hard to figure there is so much more to learn! The class was put together very well and I have no regrets being a DL scholar, which was a major concern of mine prior to taking th
