Recently, Bob May,
his son Even ,
and I headed up I-395 to Bishop
for a trout fishing
trip.
As you can tell from
this stringer of fish ,
we did very well. Keep in mind, this stringer belongs to me. Bob and Even's
are not shown, but take a look at some of the May's catch
.
Just for your information, Bob is the old man on the right!
Trust me, it was one fine trip...each of us obtained our daily limit. The largest fish I caught weighed just above 1.5 lbs and was measured over 16 inches long. Bob caught a 3.5 lb Alper! I called this fish Big AL!
As for the fish, I caught them with a fly rod, #20 gnat, #20 mosquito, and #20 bead head pheasant tail. We also used night crawlers, broken to the length of about 1", on a #16 hook...this works well too - we adjusted the weight on our line to the stream's current speed. Trust me, it works! We were doing better than most there. Case and point, both Bob and I were giving fish away. Not that we were getting bored; it was just that we did not want to clean any more than we could eat.
This pond
was near the stream where we were fishing. We call it secrets!
Here is a rustic
view from the stream's access point .
Over this fence and
down the way, as seen from this perspective,
where the trees are on the horizon - well, this is our secret spot. Shhhhhhhh...don't
tell anyone!
Ok, here are a few
more pictures while fishing with my daughter at a pond near our home.
These were two awesome fish fights.
What do you think of this catfish?
Well, I hope you enjoyed our fishing trips. As time permits, I will keep you posted of any further fishing expeditions.
